Mint Julep Derby Cake
For 2011 we thought that we would create a new cake that will be a crowd favorite for years to come. In honor of the Kentucky Derby, we thought that making a deliciously moist and tasty Derby Cake would be fitting for us since the greater part of our family is from Kentucky!
Every year, thousands of people pack the stands at Churchill Downs to watch the Kentucky Derby which kicks off the prestigious Triple Crown. Of the thousands in attendance, few will leave the track without enjoying at least one Mint Julep Cocktail, as that tradition started way back in 1938 and has been growing ever since!
Our take on this flavorful drink encompasses all parts of the original mint julep paired with chocolate! Yes chocolate! When we thought of mint, we immediately thought of chocolate, and the rest is delicious history!
