Things have been moving and shaking at Edible Spirits!

We have been super busy creating our gluten free product line, but were able to sneak in a few appearences on the country’s best morning show.

While we have been shipping our delicious cakes overseas to troops for quite some time now, there are still too many people who didn’t know about us.  To spread the word we have teamed up with the most fun and energetic morning show around: The Daily Buzz!  Currently airing in 45 states and in over 60% of households in America, The Daily Buzz Morning Show is still growing and gaining more viewers each day.  They pride themselfs on delivering the news in good spirits, so why not have Edible Spirits along for the ride?  

Our first segment was geared towards the holidays and remembering our troops…

and though it aired on Christmas Eve, it was still a big hit and created awareness of our Freedom Cake Program which sends delicious rum and liqueur cakes to the US Armed Forces overseas.

On our Valentine’s Day Special for 2011, we announced our gluten free line of rum and liqueur cakes. 

We talked about our Myers Gourmet Rum Balls, our Amaretto Hearts dipped in White Chocolate, and our Chocolate Cherry Brandy Hearts dipped in Ghirardelli Chocolate.

As most of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and people around the globe are showing thier support for the survivors, the victims, and the many families that have been affected by this disease. We are no exception and have been attending local events to show our support. Not only have we had a blast, it is all for a great cause. 

Last year “an estimated 192,370 women in the United States were diagnosed with invasive breast cancer and about 40,610 women were expected to die from the disease.” -says the American Cancer Society.

 The mosaic that we designed started out much thicker, but at the point that this picture was taken, more than half of it had been eaten…which was a good thing! We were lucky enough to be invited to the “Tickled Pink” event which was held at The Women’s Center of Martin County as an opportunity to create awareness of the disease, while the real stars of this show were all of the survivors who attended.  There were many sponsors and the entire event went off without a hitch (which rarely happens in today’s world) 

We were invited to participate in a charity benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society titled “Hot Caribbean Nights,” and boy did we have a blast!

Martin Counties best restaurants participated in raising money for this years event, along with multiple wine vendors, live music, and pirates! Yes, you heard us right, PIRATES! We’ve been told time and time again that our brandy cake is “superb,” and people continually ask us what our secret is. The answer is simple, quality ingredients with a touch of love in our secret sauces!

Ready to serve!

Our version of a brandy cake starts with a simple chocolate cake batter; then we add maraschino cherry juice, cherry brandy, and chopped walnuts for texture. We encrust the top of each cake with additional walnuts which will ensure a beautiful presentation every time. While the cake is baking, we prepare our signature cherry brandy sauce that we will soak into the cake at least three times after the baking process has finished. With our Petite, Medium, and Grande sized cakes, we also include 4 ounces of our special cherry brandy icing; This will allow the consumer to control the level of sweetness as they can drizzle as little, or as much as they like once the cake is ready to be eaten.

We like to think that it is the level of “a mother’s love” that makes this cake so good, but the special sauces that we make can’t hurt either.

Usually sticking to our standard bundt-style cakes, we were pulled out of our box, and were able to create this Harley Davidson themed cake for one of our clients. We had allot of fun with this cake, as it was surely a learning process. This was our first ever fondant cake, but we pulled it off beautifully.

We started with two layers of our Chocolate Cherry Brandy cake filled and covered with a succulent butter-cream style frosting.
